Praise and Worship
What this Means for Bethel
We desire to have Spirit led worship that creates an atmosphere for free and liberated worship whereby the Spirit and presence of God can dwell, so that we may touch the very heart of the One True Living God.
2 Chronicles 5:13-14 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God. KJV
As the Bethel music department, we desire to have Spirit led worship that creates an atmosphere for free and liberated worship whereby the Spirit and presence of God can dwell, so that we may touch the very heart of the One True Living God.
Style of Worship is Heartfelt: Our style of worship may be new to you, so we wanted to explain why we worship in this manner. Please don’t feel any pressure to conform to our style. We encourage you to worship God from your heart in a way that you are most comfortable. We believe that our faith is a matter of the heart, based upon the truth of God’s Word, therefore our worship is an expression of our heart to God.
What Type of Worship is God Seeking? God wants praise & worship that is from a heart of truth.“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit & truth for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. ” John 4:23-24
Why Do We Clap? God encourages us to clap. “O clap your hands all ye people: shout unto God with a voice of triumph
.” Psalm 47:1
Why Do We Lift Our Hands? “I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath or doubting.” I Timothy 2:8 This is one way of surrendering and expressing worship to God. “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary & bless the Lord
.” Psalm 134:2“I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath or doubting.” I Timothy 2:8
Why Are Musical Instruments Used? God has gifted people with musical abilities to worship Him. “Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: praise Him with the psaltery & harp. Praise Him with the timbrel & dance. Praise Him with the stringed instruments & organs. Praise Him upon the loud cymbals; Praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals.” Psalm 150:3-5
Why Do We Speak or Shout Audible Praise to the Lord? God encourages us to express our great joy and thanksgiving!“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me. Bless His holy name.” Psalm 103:1 “...Shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
” Psalm 47:1
Thanks in Other Tongues? The Holy Spirit has given us a new language to worship God. “They were all filled with the Holy Ghost & began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:4
“He that speaks in an unknown tongue gives thanks well. For if I pray in any unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit & I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit & I will sing with the understanding also.” I Corinthians 14:14-15
